Our last London dinner

Wow, yelp served us well again; it found us this great Sichuan restaurant near Tower Hill.  Thanks to our Asian travel companions we received some great recommendations from the staff and every dish was absolutely fantastic.

Tomorrow we fly to Munich for a Friday delivery.

Tower of London

This afternoon we took in a self-guided tour through the Tower of London.  Very interesting history here; it makes me wish I would have studied world history a little more.

Crown Jewels were the highlight of the exhibit, but the wall walk was interesting as well.

As of 6:00pm this evening I am officially on vacation.

Thai in London

A 4-star [Yelp] Thai restaurant within walking distance from our hotel continues our UK eating-around-the-world extravaganza.

 Fish cakes:
Chicken satay:

… And this is what we look like after a 10pm fire alarm that evacuates the hotel.

Dinner at Browns and then Big Ben

Hon, Jeff and I had an English Sunday tradition, beef roast and Yorkshire pudding, while Deloris and Jin Yi had the fish and chips.  Both were quite good.  Then we endulged in a traditional English sticky toffee pudding for desert – that was fabulous!

To close out the day we took the train to Westminster to see Big Ben and the London Eye.  What a great way to top off our first day in London.  Now, it is time for some sleep – Deloris has been a trooper and stayed up all day in an attempt to get over jet lag quickly, but now she is out.

Flying Emirates to London

By far my best experience on an airline to date.  Business class on Emirates is just awesome.

This is the Boeing 777 from Luanda to Dubai.

Pizza in Luanda

It was great to catch up with David, a friend and former coworker from Angola LNG who is now enjoying a stint with Chevron in Luanda.

Fazendeiro is a quaint little Italian place with great atmosphere and wonderful food.  We had two pizzas, one was salami and the other a specialty pizza I cannot pronounce.  They were both fantastic!  Granted, I just spent 29 days in Soyo, so the bar isn’t very high – but I do think is very good food even given the other awesome places I have eaten in Luanda.  Oh, and the prices weren’t bad.  Dinner and drinks was 17,000 Kwanza, which (at street exchange rates) means about $110 – a bargain for Luanda.
